Falling in love with clothes after a declutter

So at the weekend I decluttered a cupboard I was using in my step dads home, and I enjoy decluttering and it made me rediscover some of the clothes I have, example a coat I had bought about 5 years or more ago, and it is so snuggly and warm. Yes it has a hole inside it, near one of the sleeves but not bothered, because I love how snuggling it is, and was a great investment. It was bought from New Look.

This one is from ASOS and just like it. I couldn’t find one on New Look, but found this one which is similar

I remembered I had clothes in a bag not worn, and found a pair of shorts and jumpers I had been looking for and forgot about, and this is why I like versatile fashion, because I like wearing items that can be worn all year or can be dressed up or down, and my coat will be good as when it is Chilly in the summer, if the weather is chilly and if I go out during Christmas and go to a party, it will be great for that too, and in doing a declutter its so good to have space and do have Christmas jumpers, but because I have two that are still in good condition, I won’t need a new one and so good to see, as it has stopped me in buying more.

I bought the bodysuits I talked about in a previous blog, and got to try these on, and seen a few more items and love looking in charity shops and donating clothes to charity shops, along with other stuff, or put in a clothes bin for them to be recycled. The blog I talk about the body suits is here, via this link: Planning for my Autumn Wardrobe that I can still wear in the summer

I am loving the hiking shops at the moment and been looking at their pieces and checked yesterday that Trespass are doing a sale, and I talked in my last blog of a Gilet that was in Marks and Spencers and still good condition and is cheaper in price so will be checking this in Trespass if it still in sale, when I do go to buy it and want to buy one for my son too. Autumn Versatile Fashion

It is good to look around different shops for clothes, before buying. My budget, when it comes to clothes is £35.00 a month.

I talk about money a lot on my Youtube and budgeting, see link to channel below: https://www.youtube.com/@mywayofliving1602

So I would recommend to do a declutter because it is a good way to rediscover the clothes and accessories you have, and bring them back to life.

Autumn Versatile Fashion

On Tuesday I looked in Marks and Spencers because I wanted to go to the food department in the store and they had some real nice pieces of fashion that I really think is a good Autumn investment, and one was a Gilet for women and only £35 and great for Autumn to Spring and summer when it is not so warm, and long lasting.

I love M&S, for their food and clothing, and they have had some challenging times through out the years, on sales but for me, they always deliver and a store that I am glad is still around, because you can get long lasting clothes and shoes, I have a pair of boots that I bought last year for my birthday and great for going out in, and great investment.

When ever I need black trousers I always shop in M&S, because of the different styles they do and for many different sizes.

These are great for all year round, worn with many different things, like tank tops, jumpers, shirts, blouses and wash well, and worn with boots or a pumps, and can be dressed up and dressed down, and so a well worth investing and love having a pair of black trousers in my wardrobe.

They had some lovely brown trousers too that I caught my eye with a lovely white jumper.

This jumper is £59, but again can be worn all year with the trousers, and a good everyday outfit and I love knit wear and well worth the money. These trousers are £39.50.

I love walking and do invest in walking clothes, hence why I like that Gilet because I can wear with a hoodie and so comfortable to wear, and like fitness clothes, and for my birthday this year I was given some money by my mum and used them to buy some good walking boots, and was in a sale from Mountain Warehouse.

They were originally £69.99, but I got mine in the store in Wimbledon for £42.99 and they were doing a deal on these shoes where you got a discount on socks and perfect and the fit well and not heavy, and surprising light on the feet.

I will be wearing all year round and are fully waterproof, because I have joined a walking group, and like walking in commons and parks, which can be wet and muddy in the Winter and Summer and want to get as much use of them, as possible.

I also like Trespass, and bought a couple of items from them and is a good investment, because their clothes wash well and last, and just checked out their website, they are doing a clearance sale, and here is the link to their online store, so check it out: https://www.trespass.com/clearance

This for example is a Women’s Long sleeved top and is £13.99 and so check them out and if you have any store recommendation then please share these details, in the comment below.

It all about loving the clothes we have and building a long lasting wardrobe that lasts for many seasons and months of the year.

Handover Second hand clothes so they still go to a home

I thought of this blog watching a Podcast and was thinking about going through my shoes collection and will be having a good clear out. I like clothes that last for a long time and not for 5 minutes and with second hand clothes you can do that, aswell as brand new clothes and things like clothes, trousers, skirts and footwear you can do that. I love knitwear and have a favourite jumper I bought from a charity shop and it was a really good investment.

There are shoes that I haven’t worn and keep thinking, will I ever?

It can be a tough decision to make, when you spent money on them.

However I want to own less stuff and that means having a clear out of items I have not worn or use, including shoes and bags.

I am going to take photos of the items first and see if my nieces if they are the right size, want them? It is now time to change my shoes over, as I do buy shoes for specific seasons, but I tend to wear trainers and pumps, and these can be worn all year around and boots, but I also have footwear specific for winter, which have faux fur and comfortable.

I do have plans to buy a set of ballet shoes as they are always worth the money and can be worn all year round, and any shoes specific for summer I will put away, and again if there are ones I didn’t wear, I will give away.

I am a weird size because some shoes I am a 4.5 and others I am a size 5, and I tend to buy online in that case, as I find it hard to find half sizes and it depends on the type of shoe.

This time of year is a great time to have a good old sort out and getting rid of the old and bring in the new, and have little but still have lots to wear, and not having days not finding anything to wear.

I used to be like that a lot, but now I have a good systematic wardrobe. Yes it still needs a bit of work still, but I am getting good satisfaction from it, because I have enough clothes to wear, with the shoes I wear. I will film for my Youtube channel of me sorting my bedroom out. It will be on my main channel: https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal

I feel good in giving away my shoes if they go to a good home, and are better enjoyed, and that they aren’t going to be tossed away.

I have a pair of flip flops that my was given to my auntie, as the person who originally wore them couldn’t wear them, and neither could my auntie and they are brand new and so I took them in and I love them.

It is so good to see items being used rather than going to waste and I will be testing out Vinted, but will see if my nieces would like them first.

You can also if you have the skill to upcycle clothes to still wear. I have a set of pj’s I love and got a hole in so going to sow it up as I love them and so comfortable that I don’t want to let them go.

I will be investing in more pyjamas sets, because in my opinion is a good investment.

Creating a long lasting wardrobe and having plenty to wear

Clothes are an important element in our lives and keeps us covered, and so it doesn’t have to be chaotic. I have had to make a decision of, do I want to be a hoarder for the rest of my life or be a minimalist?

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

I want to be minimalist as I fed up of having so much, and not going to deprive myself but not going to buy stuff because it has a fancy print or logo, but will work based on my lifestyle.

I am not saying buying any old rags, but if it fits and you are going to get a lot of out of it, then buy it, but if you have 6 of the same tops, will that clog up your wardrobe based on what you already got, and be worn and can they be worn all year round?

I do have my eye on some bits like jumpers, and spoke about what I am planning. like body suits (check out my last blog Planning for my Autumn Wardrobe that I can still wear in the summer) as they are a long life investment, and won’t buy lots but a few and if they wash well and fit, then I want to keep them and wear them as long as possible and with jumpers, I will decide can they be worn when it is cold and going on a walk in? Can they be worn in the summer when it is cooler in the evenings, and practical for playing outdoors with my son?

This week I have been wearing black shorts and leggins, with black tops and not wise for the heat, but what I felt like and I knew I will be walking, playing in the garden and doing indoor workouts so didn’t want to wear smarter clothes, and keep with the basics.

The places I like to buy basics from are TU Sainsbury’s and George at ASDA, along with Shein, Amazon and Sports Direct. They are a good investment and did a blog about this too: Good Basics Help build a wardrobe

I not really into designer or into luxury, but I do like GUESS and haven’t bought items from one of their stores or online, but would like their fashion along with Oliver Bonas.

Yet again my spending items in these stores have changed, and that is about appearance and being practical about buying items from their stores, and if the clothes are made well and sustainable. Sort through the items not worn yet, and I am going to be getting rid of some of my bags but they aren’t practical for me and bought a new rucksack that is and can carry a little amount of stuff, but what I need each day.

I will be using my bumbag, my handbag and rucksack and that is all I want to own.

Shoes not worn. This has got to be sorted out, because I still have pairs still not worn, and not practical, and so going to eliminate ones I know I am going to ear and what can be worn by someone else or in bad condition thrown out.

Let me know what you are going to sort out and share any tips. You can comment below.

Planning for my Autumn Wardrobe that I can still wear in the summer

Looking for some last minute summer clothes? Now is the time as visiting some stores today, saw they have a massive sale on their summer stock and great to find those items that can be worn now but can be also be worn in the Autumn.

I have made some decisions on what I am going to be adding. I want a few bodysuits, because great to wear in the summer, and can be worn as a underneath, as layering for the Autumn, when the cold days begin and seen a set on amazon, that I have added to my wish list.

These are a two pack, and costs £16.20 and hopefully will last me for a long time. Let me know what you think.

Then I want a couple of sets of pyjamas, as I have a set on, as I am writing this blog, from Shein and looked in H&M and had these Snoopy ones.

These are so cute and I love light pink, I have a jumper just like this and wear it a lot , the price of these, are £15.99 but I have seen some others in George at ASDA so may look there too before I decide, and if I get the chance, I will be going to look in Primark too.

I am not planning on spending a lot on clothes now, as decluttering this year, has made me that I have enough, so just adding a few items, that I can wear with anything, and is comfortable and is a long life investment.

So, if you like to be updated when I put up a new post, then remember to follow and please leave a comment below of what items you are looking for and where you like to shop to find those long life pieces.

Fashion for Summer that can also be worn in the Autumn and Winter

So I have had a sort out of my wardrobe and going through it I have enough of what I need to see me through this year, and in thinking about my shopping habits when it comes to clothes, I rarely buy items all of the time, and have times when I haven’t bought any at all.

I just like to update it because I get bored with wearing the same clothes, but sorting out my clothes, there are items that I can’t wait to wear, which I haven’t for a long time, so going to make the most of what I have got, and there are items that I can wear for the summer, but for the Autumn and winter too.

First of all my first item are my wide leg jeans from Shein. I been wearing these a lot and will go well with all my T-Shirts and can wear them in the Autumn and Winter with boots or trainers, and even a pair of sandals if we get more summer days, its rained a lot, but a great investment.

Then there are my sleeveless shirts. I do have many and wearing on of them as I continue to write this blog. TU Sainsbury’s has been a winner for me when it comes to these items and would buy more, but I know that I would buying them. for the sake of it.

I have mentioned these before in a previous blog, but honestly a great investment and as I write this blog I have this one (above) with my Wide legs jeans from shein and feels so light and will look be good with a cardigan and other style of jeans and with trousers too.

I have been loving wearing a t-shirt with some shorts and still great to wear in the Autumn and winter, for indoors and be worn as with lounge wear and been love seeing women wear the a hooded jumper with shorts set, but I can make a set of the clothes I have got. I have a grey fleece from Groupon and grey shorts, which were from Shein. The hoodie was bought as a set with tracksuit bottoms, but can wear with shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggins, so great staple for your wardrobe. Its a comfort item and can add a blazer over the top with jeans, to really style it out. Super versatile.

Clothes like this never go out of fashion, and I do like the oversized look.

If you’d like to do a video showing the different looks I like then please leave a comment below.

My favourite place to shop for clothes too, is amazon and I love these tops they do. I have a few and they fit so well and can be good item to wear all year round and for different types of weather.

I have long sleeves ones and short sleeves, and wash well and can be worn with smart trousers, jean, leggins, and shorts along with a piece of jewelry, to be super stylish and last for a long time.

They also do sleeveless, and with a cardigan or a blazer, a jacket still wearable for the Autumn and winter.

Please check out my Pinterest board on fashion and what other clothes can last for Autumn and winter.

I do have other boards created about Fashion, so if you can spare some time, please check them out.

My Favourite things I love to wear and great investment for the whole year round

I love my wardrobe and the clothes I have in it, and my favourite items are my cycling shorts. The pair I have, I have had for a long time and still in good condition, and they are great to wear when swimming or under a dress to stop chaffing and under shorter shorts.

This weekend I am going to buy another pair to have a spare and again make sure they last me a long time too. I want a set of sports shorts for walking as my goal is to walk to Morden everyday and to save money on travel.

The place I am going to look is Sports Direct. I stopped buying from them, because of their staff not being paid correctly and staff not being treated well. However, I do like the store and great place for deals, and to get items on a bargain.

This pair I have found is for £6.00. I like quality and will check them out to make sure that they will last me for a good number of years, and then I want a pair Sports shorts too to wear on top. Will be good to walk around in and to wear in the winter when indoors with a fleece and trainers.

This pair is £9.00 and feel will be a good investment. If you have any recommendations then please leave a comment below. Your feedback will be greatly received.

The one thing I like to have is a good pair of shoes and I have black pair from TU Sainsbury’s and so comfortable and wearing them practically everyday.

These are £8 and I love them. Super comfortable and I walk a lot, I initially got them to wear indoors, but worn them out and will continue to do so, as great with sports clothes, casual or with a dress. I went to a interview wearing these with a dress and went really well and so very versatile, as can wear with tights and socks and still look stylish.

The other thing I love is my Denim Jacket which I bought from a Charity shop and bought it for a Hen Party weekend and was dressing up as Cyndi Lauper and a real find and I do have another on with sparkles and great items to add and good for all weathers.

Here is one I found similar to the one I have, and this one is from TU Sainsbury’s £25.00 and can last a lifetime.

I will share more of things I love to wear and like to have in my wardrobe and for all seasons.

Fashion items I like that lasts for all summers without buying more

I like to have a good selection of clothes that are for the summer, but will last me for more summers and can be worn indoors, like shorts around the house, instead of out, during the autumn and winter season.

Denim Shorts: These one item I always like to invest in. Always my go too, because I love putting these on and can be worn with tights in the winter, but lasts for a long time, depending where from. The last pair I owned were too big for me. I bought them when going to music festival and was pregnant, so these were donated, but now would like a nice new pair, along with another set of cycling shorts, and a pair of sports shorts and another sports bra.

These Denim shorts above are from TU Sainsbury’s, and looks like these have practically sold out, so gonna have a look else where, but for £14 not bad, and I love clothes from Tu Sainsbury’s. You can find some really good pieces that last a long time. The ones I had that I wore when pregnant were from New Look, but in the end after losing weight, they didn’t fit me anymore. There is a Newlook not far from me so I will go there to see if they still have pairs. The one they had in Epsom has closed down, so they don’t do denim shorts anymore, I will look at Shein and want to checkout Lightinabox. If you know of any online stores or in the high street stores that are good value, please recommend. You can leave a comment below.

I know there is Primark but don’t have a store that is close by, so yes I want a good pair that will last more than one season.

Sleeveless tops and tank tops: I have spoken about these before, Good Basics Help build a wardrobe but they are just worth the money.

I have a few sleeve tops and tanks. They for me are basics and I love investing in many colours and can be worn as bed clothes too and great to as a layer for the winter.

You will always find sleeveless tops in my wardrobe and if you’d like to see my tops I have then please let me know, and tank tops. This one is from John Lewis at is £8 and there are a few colours available in this colour. They are available in different sizes, apart from size 16, and sold out. Again though, TU Sainsbury’s do good selection too and also in H&M.

Summer dresses: I a few, a couple that can be worn in the summer and ones that are for the winter, and I’d like to invest in a new black dress, as again the one I bought from Very is now two big, along with a few and so donated these a few, that are too big too.

I have had my eye on this for ages and is selling out fast. This is from Amazon, and is £22.58. I am a little hesitate though, because of finding the right size, and not sure if it made for petite women, but when it is the right size it can be a long lasting item and worn all year round. So a must and can be worn during the day or the evenings on holiday when it is a bit chilly and to hot for the day time.

I love amazon as you can get different items on there that is original and not the same as the high street.

If you’d like to check our my Pinterest site, I have many boards with clothes and looks I am wanting to go for, for this year:

I hope you are enjoying my blogs on this site, and if you’d like to be kept update on this blog site to be alerted of new posts then please follow me, and like my content. Your feedback is important to me so please share.

What I have added to my wardrobe

When it comes to clothes I am being more strict with myself, but still allow myself the joy of buying items, but that I can add to what I have already got.

This month I ordered a few things from Shein, a pair of wide leg jeans, a baseball jacket and a set of pyjamas.

I love these jeans and they had to be taken up because they were very long, but my mum took care of that for me and they are very comfortable Not washed them yet but got some good wear out of them. Not worn them today being the beginning of the week because my son likes to play in the garden, and so didn’t want them to get mucky.

This is my baseball jacket, and it is lovely. It is comfortable and good fabric and not stopped wearing it. It is a shame it didn’t have pockets, but I can live with that and very easy to wear.

I couldn’t find the exact ones from Shein but they do have so many varieties and for good prices. The ones are similar to the ones I purchased, not worn them yet because I need to shave my legs, but when I do can’t wait to wear them.

They are so #chick and nice material. I also bought a sleeveless shirt which is a must, from TU Sainsbury’s for £12 and fits well.

I will be doing another what I like to wear, showing my sleeveless shirts on my Youtube channel Typical London Gal Carrie Holmes as I love them, and love sharing my love of clothes.

As I saw it coming up the escalator I knew I had to buy. I did try it on and got it in a 12 and can’t wait to wear it.

So if you like this blog then you can follow me and you will be updated every time I put up a post and remember to like to so I know if you like this type of content and if not what would you like to share on this blog site. You can leave a comment below.

Rain days what I like to wear and looking to add to my wardrobe

I am sitting here in my Mickey Mouse jumper and leggins. It was so rainy yesterday that it didn’t make sense to dress up and so is why I am in casual clothes. I tend to wear these types of clothing because they are comfortable and clothes are important to how you feel.

There are items in my wardrobe I have still not worn because of the weather, but have a bag full of clothes to give away which I know I am never going to wear and making me be wise when buying more clothes, in that I am being realistic in my choices.

Having a bit of a declutter helps this and I don’t need thousands of items, just enough so I feel good and can be worn in all weathers.

I like to make sure I have a good coat for rainy days and I wear a different coat at the weekend to the one I wear in the week, and I wasn’t doing this consciously but it just worked out this way, and I do like to have a coat but not worn that at all this year as I do like my jackets.

The Jackets I wear is one from Debenhams and was a Christmas gift and a Black one which is in the picture below and was from Very and was one that was styled by Michelle Keegan.

Then there is footwear. The pair I have been religiously wearing is my ones from TU Sainsbury’s and jogged in these too, and I just slide them on and go, and lasted for two years so far and so comfortable.

For inspiration I do look on Pinterest and watch Sheerluxe, and love trying different looks and love wearing oversized clothes, like fleeces and jumpers, and looking for a new pair of wide leg jeans and found a lovely white top on Etsy that I want to invest in and a baseball jacket. I will show these once I have purchased and ready for the warmer weather.

Check Shein they have a lot of options, and not this blog is not sponsored but is through personal choice.

So I will share more and let me know what you like to wear on a rainy day.
