My Favourite Christmas Films

My favourite films at Christmas is You’ve go mail with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, I just love the innocence of the movie and how they finally realise that they already know each other.

Then Mary Poppins, the old version, not the new one that has just been released. I am sorry but you can’t beat the classics and it always brings me such excitement every time I see the film.

My son and I are loving Polar Express at the moment, and we’ve watched twice in two days. I just love the magic of it and my son because he loves trains, loves the film.

I can’t forget the old classic, A Christmas Carol, about Scrooge and is visited by the ghost of Christmas passed and present. I love the old black and white version.

Then there are films like The Snowman, it always brings me goosebumps each year and never grow sick of it.

Groundhog day with Bill Murray, absolutely hilarious and never grow sick of it, it still makes me laugh every time I watch it.

I am looking forward seeing some of these films this Christmas again and again.

So what are your favourite Christmas films? I would love to hear from you.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Chessington Garden Centre Santa’s Grotto

This week we took my son to the Santa’s Grotto, at the Chessington Garden Centre. You do have to book way ahead of time as it tends to sell out rather quickly, but was really lovely to go.

Chessington Garden centre is on the Leatherhead road about two minutes away from Chessington World of Adventures.

We had a bite to eat in the cafe and which came to about £16 but not bad for 3 of us as my son had something to eat aswell, and you can get some lovely Christmas gifts there too.

We did the fantastic Christmas Wonderland experience, which is sold out this year, but worth planning on going to as of next year. You get to meet the creations team and make a gift for father Christmas, and then you follow it around to see the fantastic wonderland and get to see some familiar characters from those famous films and books.

Then at the end you get to meet the man himself, Father Christmas.

Many thanks for reading,

Meal Planning at Christmas

This year my husband will be cooking dinner, I do cook too, but when it comes to roast dinners my husband is the chef in our house.

We already have our Turkey in the freezer, we have gone for a frozen turkey breast from Iceland’s, the grocery store.

Turkey joint icelands

When it comes to planning our meals we buy it ahead of time, to miss the Christmas rush and then it just the case of cooking it all and serving.

I don’t like to rush around and so getting Christmas food already is the key to stop any overwhelming problems.

Check out this post on mumsnet:

Then it is gift wrapping, I like to do it altogether and I am planning on doing my wrapping these next two day’s, it will be fun as I got to look after my son at the same time and he probably want to play catch or some other activity but we see how we go.

I have even found some mini Christmas cakes from Tesco’s yesterday and some mini Christmas puddings aswell. The Christmas cakes were £2 and the little Christmas Puddings were a pound.

I came across this video about meal planning for Christmas. Check it out below:

So I wish you all have fabulous Christmas and don’t panic it is only one day a year.

Strictly Come Dancing Final

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Strictly Come Dancing final last night, but sad that it had to end. I predicted ages ago in a former blog post that Kevin and Stacey would win. They did have a fantastic partnership and I thought that Craig’s (one of the strictly judges) scores were pretty harsh, I loved their freestyle routine, and their Paso Doble, I thought it deserved a definite ten.

Least we still have the Christmas special to look forward to. It has been a great series and I thought it was quite open at the beginning, meaning that it was anyone’s competition. There were some real strong contenders.

So what do we have to look forward to on a Saturday night now?

Well you have The Voice on ITV starting again soon and then Dancing on Ice.

Strictly is such a great show that every year I become more of a fan than before.

So what did you think of this series of Strictly? I would love to hear your views.

Living with music

Music has always been a massive part of my life. I have never known it not to be. I am not a musician or a singer, even though I have had lessons, but I wouldn’t give Adele a run for her money, in fact I don’t think my voice could ever be any where close to hers, but I do love my music.

As a child I would spend hours listening to my records, which was the way in the early 80’s to listen to music. Then came cassette tapes and CD’s. I especially loved Christmas I was always guaranteed a new cassette or record.

I didn’t buy my first CD until later on as I reached adult age.

I still listened to my walkman, which was a portable device that worked on AA batteries and it would play cassette tapes. I loved my walkman and continued to use it all the way up until I left school, until I received a CD and got a portable CD player for Christmas.

I then started to fade away from listening to my tapes to the point that I no longer at the age of 38 owned a cassette tape anymore, I haven’t even bought a CD in the last 10 or so years. If I want to listen to music I play it via YouTube, or Google music app.

However I still keep my CD’s and will sometimes play one using my laptop whilst working in my home office/guest bedroom.

To me music is more than a tune it is what is represents in your life. As soon as I hear for example A-HA Take On Me, it instantly takes me back to my childhood when I used to live in Hammersmith, or when I listen to Alexander O’Neal Fake it makes me remember those great holidays my mum and dad used to take me and my brother on, to Menorca with some of my mum and dads friends from Chelsea, in London.
