Living with music

Music has always been a massive part of my life. I have never known it not to be. I am not a musician or a singer, even though I have had lessons, but I wouldn’t give Adele a run for her money, in fact I don’t think my voice could ever be any where close to hers, but I do love my music.

As a child I would spend hours listening to my records, which was the way in the early 80’s to listen to music. Then came cassette tapes and CD’s. I especially loved Christmas I was always guaranteed a new cassette or record.

I didn’t buy my first CD until later on as I reached adult age.

I still listened to my walkman, which was a portable device that worked on AA batteries and it would play cassette tapes. I loved my walkman and continued to use it all the way up until I left school, until I received a CD and got a portable CD player for Christmas.

I then started to fade away from listening to my tapes to the point that I no longer at the age of 38 owned a cassette tape anymore, I haven’t even bought a CD in the last 10 or so years. If I want to listen to music I play it via YouTube, or Google music app.

However I still keep my CD’s and will sometimes play one using my laptop whilst working in my home office/guest bedroom.

To me music is more than a tune it is what is represents in your life. As soon as I hear for example A-HA Take On Me, it instantly takes me back to my childhood when I used to live in Hammersmith, or when I listen to Alexander O’Neal Fake it makes me remember those great holidays my mum and dad used to take me and my brother on, to Menorca with some of my mum and dads friends from Chelsea, in London.

Riding on the Watercressline and a visit to the cinema

Last weekend we took a trip to Alresford to ride on the Watercressline in Hampshire, The Santa Special, at 12:15 and back again.

It was a bit of a trip to get to, about hour and half, not the best day weather wise, but still a great trip, and look who popped by Santa Claus himself.

It takes you two stops and then back again, but you do get a 15 minute break in between whilst they move the engine to other part of the train, and for guests to look around the different stations, and you can get off the train to watch. You also get a mince pie, wine or orange juice for the adults, and children get a carton of juice and a gingerbread biscuit.

The Dates it is available to do the Santa Special is on the 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th 19th to the 24th December. Times are 10:40, 12:15, 1:50 and 3:25.

The prices do vary depending on age of children and if they are child or adult, but I thought it was a great day out. The kids loved their gifts they received from Santa Claus and then we finished off the day with a nice meal in Alreston town centre Pizza Express.

In the evening my husband and I went to see Bohemium Rhapsody. One word brilliant definitley would watch it again. I thought the actor who play Freddie Mercury was amazing, so well performed and real tribute to Freddie himself.

All in all a great weekend.

Meal for a Tenner Review

I posted a blog about a Meal for a tenner and so here is my review on it.

We tried the ones at Tesco and was very impressed, but not with Marks and Spencers which we tried last Saturday.

It was lovely meal, but both my husband and I didn’t go much on the Rose wine we had, and I think that you get more for your money with the Tescos meal for a tenner, so prefer the Tescos one compared to the Mark and Spencers meal deal.

I am not sure if we will do the meal for a tenner this Saturday, as we are taking a trip on the Watercress line Train ride as treat for our son, as he loves trains and so I will post about our trip next week.

https://www.watercressline.co.uk/product.php/120/santa-special

I am also going to take a trip to either the Christmas markets along the South Bank or to Winter Wonderland so when I do I will be writing a post.

On Youtube this week I came across this video by Sugarmamma.tv about Quick Cash Saving habits.

I have been watching Strictly still and I got to say I think Kevin and Stacey could possibly win it, I loved their dance last week doing the Paso, and feel they do have a real strong partnership.

So I hope you all have a good weekend and check out the Tescos meal deal, no I am not sponsored I just think it is great.

A Meal for a tenner

Thanks to my mum, who is the greatest, we have been introduced to the supermarket meal deals. Now each Saturday we now save a tenner to purchase a meal deal.

The great thing about doing the meal deal is that you get a bottle of wine with it aswell, for you fellow wine drinkers out there.

I think it is totally worth it, so far we have apart from today, done the Tescos meal deal and both times they have been really nice meals.

Today we decided to try the Mark and Spencers one and I will report back on what I thought. We have gone with steak, mash potato and a bottle of wine.

I  am already in the opinion that the Tescos one you get slightly more for your money as it includes one main, one side, dessert and bottle of wine, but with the Marks and Spencers one you get a main, a side or dessert and a bottle of wine.

You can do the meal deal just for one or for two.

So I am gonna enjoy the rest of my Saturday and look forward to another hopefully nice meal.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

End of another week

Its Friday Yippy. No more school run for two days, hooray. Not that I don’t like the school run it is such a mission, as Henry my son loves to watch people going passed, the pond, the trees for squirrels and the buses going by.

Today is going to be an easy day for me, as got most of what I needed to do during the week. At the moment I am listening on Google Music APP Guetta and Sia Flames.

Not sure if I am that impressed with Google Music App as you have to pay for it, and should be able to listen to podcasts as as music, but it won’t let me andI got it because I wanted to listen to podcasts not just music.

Another App I am using is Podcasts which is available from Play Store and it is completely free to use and I am loving it.

I love listening to Tony Robbins and been watching a lot of videos on Youtube by Erin May Henry, Gillian Perkins, Sugar Mamma, Alexa Aka MissTrenchCoat and Project Life Mastery. I would recommend them to watch as they really help motivate me and inspire me.

This weekend it is my brothers birthday and my sons, so will be celebrating those and have small gathering of family.

So who inspires you on Podcasts, Youtube and what you up to this weekend I would love to hear from you.

Money saving tips

The one thing I try and do this time of the year is to save as much money as much as I can, as I know this is a busy season for me with birthdays coming up and then Christmas.

Image result for shopping cartoon images

I like to save money by not paying full price on anything, so if I can get it in a sale then I will.

The other thing I like to to see what I already have and use that up first. I only bulk buy on items I know we use a lot of, for example toilet paper.

I set a budget on each gift that I buy and stick to it.

I make sure I keep up to date with my finances and give myself enough for travel and food.

Planning ahead of time for me is the key to saving and check out what deals are online compared to in the stores.

I am not frightened of buying in Charity shops either, you can find some lovely pieces of jewellery, clothes, ornaments, books and other nic-naks.

So lets get saving and see what treasures we can find for this year.

Watch “How to Master Your Money & Set Yourself Free with Amanda Steinberg” on YouTube

Check out this video on how to Master your money and Set Yourself Free. Really brilliant video.

I love Alfonzo

If you don’t know who Alfonzo is, he is the guy who played Carlton on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He did the American version of Strictly Come Dancing, called Dancing with the Stars and won.

Here he is dancing below:

I thought this was brilliant dancing and the fact he was making fun on himself, made it even more brilliant.

On Strictly Come Dancing last week, he bought a certain level of excitement being a guest judge this year.

Don’t get me wrong I do like Bruno, but he just was so brilliant in his comments, that I wish he could be guest judge each year, and I would love for him to be on more UK TV.

Yesterday, I spent some time in Kingston as we have my husbands parents down, and it was a good day out. There are several buses and trains you can get there, and is a nice town. There was a big British Heart Foundation store, which I couldn’t resist, and bought a couple of books.

Then we went into this little pub, which I can not remember the name of, but is opposite the Starbucks on the high street. Then we went and got the bus back before the traffic got any busier.

We then went back to our local town and had a few drinks there, a bite to eat and then home.

I love a good day out, and looking forward to some Christmas Markets already.

Who is your favourite person on TV?

Where do you like to go and visit on regular basis?
